Eliminates
the use of fossil fuels for your home heating
• No cost escalations as the geothermal
ground loop is now your energy source and will last a lifetime
• No carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide produced. No noxious emissions
• No noisy
and unsightly outdoor A/C & HP units
• Geothermal Cooling
can provide 100% of your hot water needs.
• No Fossil Fuel furnace(s) required
• Increased resale value
ADVANTAGES
FOR THE HOMEOWNER
1. MORE COMFORT
-
Real comfort is yours as you can design true zone
control in any configuration. You can call for AC in the kitchen and
or bedroom while heating in the living room and bath. Water to water
radiant
floor heat in the lower/ground level, working in hybrid,
with a GS heat pump in air conditioner mode for humidity control provides
optimal comfort – economically.
- No winter cool spots as commonly experienced by
air to air heat pump customers
2. ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF GEOTHERMAL SYSTEMS
- A
geothermal system is up to four times as efficient as the most efficient
conventional system. Because geothermal systems do not burn combustible
fuel to make heat, they provide four units of energy for every one unit
used to power the system.
3. GEOTHERMAL SYSTEM WARRANTIES
- Ground
source heat exchanger systems which have been installed are still operational
after 59 years of continuous operation. Standard Warranties on GSHP’s
are 20-25 years. But some installers offer Lifetime Warranties.
- The
pipe in your geothermal loop field is warranteed for 50 years.
4. LOW MAINTENANCE
- Geothermal
systems are practically maintenance free. When installed properly, the
buried loop will last for generations. And the other half of the operation–the
unit’s fan, compressor and pump–is housed indoors, protected
from the harsh weather conditions. Usually, periodic checks and filter
changes are the only required maintenance.
5. ELIMINATES THE USE OF FOSSIL FUEL
- A
geothermal system utilizes the energy from the sun, which is stored
in the earth, to heat and cool homes and buildings. Typically, electric
power is used only to operate the unit’s fan, compressor and pump.
So, unlike conventional systems, geothermal systems do not burn fossil
fuel to generate heat– they simply transfer heat to and from the
earth.

GEOTHERMAL CLOSED LOOP COMPARISON
VERTICAL LOOP
• 200 - 300 feet per ton
• 400 - 600 feet of pipe per ton
The vertical loop is the preferred loop when land space is limited or
where rocky soil, or dry clay, conditions exist. Safest from drought
induced dry soils and disruption from breach by other land activities.
HORIZONTAL LOOP
• 5 - 8 feet deep
• 800 – 1000’ of pipe per ton
• 200 – 330’ of trench per ton
• Slinky or Quad u-pipe
The Horizontal loop is the preferred configuration, when land space
and soil conditions are adequate or breaching by other land activities
are not a concern, as it is relatively inexpensive to install.
POND LOOP
• Minimum 8 feet deep
• 1/4 acre pond surface/5 tons
• 400-500 feet of pipe per ton
The pond loop is the least expensive to install when a pond of sufficient
size and stable water level is available and preferred if breaching
via animals, livestock, boat anchoring or other uses are not a concern.
7. NO OUTSIDE EQUIPMENT
- Outdoor personal space comfort is optimized. Your
outdoor living space will be free of noisy fans and unsightly outdoor
electro-mechanical devises to disturb you or compromise the safety of
children.
